Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. Tarkka creates an anonymous account the first time you open it, so you can start a list straight away. Signing in with Google or Apple is optional. It lets you reach your lists on a new phone.
What is a household?
The people who share your lists. Everyone in a household can see and change its lists and recipes, and gets the same suggestions.
Sharing
How do I invite someone?
Go to You → Invite someone and share the link or the code. The other person opens the link, or enters the code in Tarkka, and joins your household. Share invites only with people you trust: anyone with a valid invite can join until it expires.
How do I leave a household or remove someone?
Leave from You → Household. The household's owner can remove members there too.
Lists and items
I deleted something by mistake
Deleted items and lists stay in "Recently deleted" for 30 days, and you can restore them from there.
Does it work without a connection?
Yes. Your lists are also kept on your phone, so you can use them in the shop. Changes sync when you're back online.
A change doesn't show on the other phone
Check that both phones are online and in the same household. Changes usually appear within a few seconds.
Your account and data
I got a new phone
If you signed in with Google or Apple, sign in with the same account on the new phone. If you never signed in, ask someone in your household to invite you again.
How do I delete my account?
Go to You → Account → Delete account. Delete your account explains what happens to shared households, and how to ask by email if you no longer have the app.
What data does Tarkka keep?
Only what the app needs to run: your household's lists and content, and your name and email if you sign in. No ads and no tracking. Crash reports never contain your lists. The privacy policy has the details.
